Teenage Baseball Divisions Program Information

Little League Baseball does not end with the completion of your 12-year-old Majors season. The fun continues! Players league-aged 13-14 continue to compete for WCLL against teams throughout the Bay Area. Upper Division Little League is "travel ball" without the extra time and expense, saving hundreds of hours and thousands of dollars!  Metal cleats, leadoffs, steals, dropped 3rd strike rule, balks, and more!

Our Intermediate and Junior Levels will each have a Select and House team. Select Teams are created to play in a more competitive environment and compete against teams beyond District 4. Select players are nominated through an evaluation process.

Evaluation Process for Spring 2023

Evaluations for Select teams will be held on December 9 &10 and December 16 &17. Select Teams will be announced shortly following evaluations. House Teams will be announced in January following the completion of the league registration. In order to be eligible for Select evaluations, players must be registered through Walnut Creek Little League by December 3, 2022.

Intermediate Level

The next level after the Majors Division, Intermediates is for players that are league-aged 13, and introduces kids to a larger 50’/70’ diamond. Players progress into using more MLB-level rules, including leadoffs, balks and pick off attempts. Select teams will follow a 9-player batting order with substitutions, while House teams follow the more traditional Little League model of continuous batting lineups.

Juniors Level

The next level after Intermediates is our Juniors Division, for players league-aged 14. Juniors introduces players to the professional level 60’/90’ diamond. While the rules continue to follow the MLB-level, all teams (Gold and House) follow the 9-player batting order with substitutions.

Approved Bats:

Either USA Bat Standard bats or BBCOR bats must be used at the Intermediate (50/70) Baseball and Junior League Baseball Divisions. The Senior League baseball division will be the only division of Little League Baseball to continue to use the BBCOR bat standard.

Approved Cleats:

All Upper Division Levels:  Shoes with metal spikes or molded cleats are permitted.
